BBC Scotland Report: ‘Hannah Miley: Scottish swimmer announces retirement, aged 32’
Hannah Miley is ready to give other parts of her life priority after choosing to retire from swimming.
The 32-year-old former world, European and Commonwealth champion appeared at three Olympic Games.
Miley opted for 1 December as the date of her announcement, marking 17 years to the day of her first Commonwealth Youth Games podium appearance.
“It felt like a nice way to round it off. I just feel it’s the right time to step away,” she told BBC Scotland.
“Anything I can do to help the next generation, the current generation and even those in masters or triathlon, I’d still love to stay involved.”
Miley won six gold, 14 silver and 16 bronze medals across world and European championships, Commonwealth Games, World Cup, European Junior and Commonwealth Youth events.
